FALL NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

STUDENT/ALUMNI NETWORKING PROGRAM
You are cordially invited to a multigenerational and multitrack mixer event that brings together alumni of excellence from across the Rutgers generations to network and inspire each other as well as to offer mentorship and leadership development examples to current students.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS? Each alumni participant has been asked to provide insight about a pivotal moment in their career life that they look back upon to inspire them now. They also will speak frankly on what they wished they knew to prepare for while still at Rutgers.

WHAT KIND OF ALUMNI ARE PARTICIPATING? These are alumni who have committed to be a resource for current students. They come from across a spectrum of careers and exemplify the multiple roads present to achieve excellence and success.

WHAT DO ALUMNI GAIN? Our participating alumni get to make a big difference in the life paths of our participating students. Alumni also get to network with each other, making new and exciting connections—this is especially true as we have made sure to invite a number of wildly successful alumni who can potentially offer exceptional mentoring to upcoming, younger alumni.

DETAILS OF THE EVENING

6:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2023

Event Host (MC):  Jason Gaines

Objective: The objective of this networking event is to explore the career narratives of Rutgers graduates across a range of fields and generations. Each participant will construct a sink or swim narrative and then be introspective to uncover the realities and challenges associated with having intersecting identities that are engaged with their race, class and gender.

Format:

Participants arrive at the location. We have invited vendors for them to peruse–these are Rutgers alumni with their own businesses, nonprofits or the like, or even authors and other entrepreneurs.

*HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

Dressy Casual/Relaxed business casual is a good option. Or, a blouse with really nice jeans, blazer and nice shoes.

Office wear could be appropriate, like a wrap or sheath dress, or a pantsuit, or dressy separates.

One suggestion we got was that jeans are okay for an event like this, but elevate them with a blazer and turtleneck—Choose well-fitted clothing that flatters you.
