Monica Weeks has had an illustrious career spanning over four decades, marked by unparalleled success in the publishing, entertainment, and media industries. Presently, she is committed to bringing free arts programming to the City of New Brunswick and has held pivotal roles at two esteemed New Brunswick-based organizations, standing as a beacon of support for the arts. At Crossroads Theatre Company, Monica served as Director of Operations and Marketing, showcasing her adeptness in orchestrating seamless operations and fostering strategic marketing initiatives and as the Executive Director of Hub City Jazz. Noteworthy is her groundbreaking tenure at The New York Times, where she achieved the historic promotion to Advertising Director of National Retail Stores, managing a substantial budget. During her time at Essence Magazine, she significantly contributed to revenue generation and corporate sponsorships, particularly for the Essence Music Festival. Monica’s commitment to service and community development is evident through her involvement with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and her role in establishing two successful jazz festivals. Her impactful “Protégé to Pro” initiative, which provided valuable experiences and training for students, played a pivotal role in Hub City Jazz’s transition to a non-profit organization. Monica’s dedication has enriched the lives of students in the New Brunswick District schools through over 80 hours of master classes and improvisation training.
