A native of Ewing, NJ, Frank B. Hundley has been involved with Rutgers for the past four decades.
Upon arrival On the Banks as a freshman in 1982, Frank fell passionately in love with Rutgers and its sprawling campus. As an undergraduate, Frank’s school spirit and enthusiasm for the university was amplified as a four-year member of the Rutgers Marching Band. He was also an active participant and office holder in the Rutgers Minority Student Science Association as an undergraduate. Frank developed many of his closest lifelong friendships during his years as a Rutgers undergraduate. He graduated from Rutgers College in 1986 with a BA degree in biological sciences.
A few years after graduating from Rutgers, Frank relocated to the West Coast where he earned his MBA degree from the University of California, Berkeley – Haas School of Business.
In his early career, Frank spent more than a decade working in the telecommunications and technology industries in marketing management roles, living in California, Germany, Switzerland, and Ohio before returning home to Central New Jersey in 2000.
In 2002, Frank moved in retail financial services, helping families build and maintain generational wealth. After a combined 14 years with Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, in 2016 Frank transitioned into his current role as Vice President Wealth Management for Janney Montgomery Scott in New Hope, PA where he co-leads an all-Rutgers team.
Professionally, Frank was awarded a certificate in financial planning from the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies and earned the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, awarded by the CFP® Board of Standards, Inc. He also earned the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation, from the College for Financial Planning, and holds the Certification in Long Term Care designation.
Frank’s involvement with Rutgers runs deep and wide. Committed to being an agent of positive change for his alma mater, Frank engaged with the Rutgers Alumni Association (RAA) two decades ago, working as a committee chair and moving up the ranks to become an RAA officer and ultimately president in 2008-09. That same year, Frank served on the inaugural board of the newly formed Rutgers University Alumni Association followed by a three-year full term as a board member. In 2006, the RAA awarded the Loyal Son of Rutgers distinction to Frank.
In 2009, Frank was elected to the Rutgers University Board of Trustees (BOT) where he served a seven-year term culminating as board chair in 2015-16. Following his term, Frank was bestowed the high honor of a lifetime appointment as an emeritus member of the BOT.
Frank is currently serving in his sixth year on the Rutgers Board of Governors (BOG). In addition, Frank also serves on the Rowan University Rutgers-Camden Board of Governors and is the chair of both the Rutgers-Camden Board of Directors and the Rutgers BOG Committee on Academic and Student Affairs.
Frank has spent considerable time in his board roles attracting talent to alma mater, including serving on the search committee to attract President Jonathan Holloway to Rutgers and co-chairing the search committee to bring Dr. Anna Branch to Rutgers. President Holloway recently promoted Dr. Branch to his cabinet as the Senior Vice President for Equity. Frank also served on the search committee to recruit Dr. Antonio Tillis as chancellor to Rutgers University-Camden.
Never having lost his school spirit, Frank is a more than two-decade season ticket holder for both the Rutgers Football and Men’s Basketball teams. On a typical fall Saturday, when not in the football stadium cheering on his beloved Scarlet Knights, you will find Frank in the Yellow Lot on Busch Campus as he hosts guests at his tailgate, affectionately named the Friends of Frank by his tailgating comrades. Each home game features a different tailgate theme focused around Frank’s persona. In September 2016, the Friends of Frank won NJ.Com’s Rutgers Greatest Tailgate competition, besting twenty-five entrants and five finalists to take top honors.
Frank has served on the Board of Trustees of Patriots Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America and as an officer of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Black MBA Association. He has also remained active and engaged as a member of the New York Chapter of the Berkeley-Haas Alumni Network.
