Assemblyman William (Bill) W. Spearman has led a successful career through his reputation as a troubleshooter and problem solver, known to work within whichever capacity he serves to both define the problem and develop solutions. Born and raised in Camden City, Assemblyman Spearman is a lifelong resident and a former city councilman. Assemblyman Spearman is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Rutgers University, where he obtained a degree in Business Management.
While working as a real estate agent and then as an intern at Cooperโs Ferry Development Association (CFDA), Assemblyman Spearman earned a Masters of Business Administration in Real Estate and Urban Land Studies degree from Temple University. After graduation, he became a full-time employee at CFDA, managing development projects, including Phase IV Wiggins Waterfront Park Construction, Building 17 improvements (Victor Lofts), and the Riversharks Stadium Construction Project. As the project manager for the CFDA, Assemblyman Spearman worked for 11 years to oversee and manage the development of infrastructure and projects. After the CFDA, he served the City of Camden in a variety of positions, ranging from Director of Real Estate to Camden City Director of Economic and Industrial Development. He continued his service to the City by serving on the Camden City Council for six years.
Assemblyman Spearman represents the 5th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly since taking office on June 30, 2018. He has served as both the compliance officer and the ethics liaison officer for the South Jersey Transportation Authority, ensuring the authority complies with Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations. Assemblyman Spearman served as the Operations Manager for the Camden Housing Authority. He also sits on the Board of the Camden County Improvement Authority.
In the Assembly he currently serves as Chair on the Commerce, Economic Development and Agriculture Committee, Vice-Chair on the Children, Families and Food Security Committee, and sits on the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee. Additionally, Assemblyman Spearman proudly serves his local community as a steward for the Macedonia AME Church.
