Dr. Emeka Akaezuwa is an entrepreneur, inventor, technologist and educator. He invented the Universal Search Operating System software (Search OS) and is currently working on an innovative new source of solar energy that is based on Digital Matrix, rather than on solar panels.
His recent invention, Search OS software breaks many grounds in software technology. The software has won numerous international awards for innovation and in 2009 was included in the computer encyclopedia as a major contribution to knowledge and to software engineering
For the past fifteen years, he has been building large-scale information retrieval systems for government, academic and for corporations worldwide. He built critical systems for the US Navy, Canada’s national information retrieval system for Science and Technology, for Tsinghua Consortium’s scientific information system. Tsinghua Consortium is composed of 100 of the best universities in China. In addition, he designed the information retrieval systems used by Universidad Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico, the Brazilian national research system, the British Library’s retrieval system, the internal information system used by Los Alamos National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the state of Ohio’s information system called Ohio-Link, Yale University, Michigan University, AT&T’s OnePage, Aventis Pharmaceuticals information system and for national information systems in Italy and Australia among others.
He received awards from the US Congress for his work on the US Navy’s Torpedo Information Retrieval System. He was given an award for designing the world’s largest business information retrieval system for Dow Jones and Company.
Dr. Akaezuwa graduated with a Ph.D in Information Systems and Structures from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In 2009 he was christened a “Search Wizard.” The Search Wizard honor is given to technologists who have made significant contribution to search technology. His Search OS software was considered one of the best in the world in 2008 by the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA), a Washington DC-based global association that represents software and information institutions worldwide.

Prior to founding Gaviri Technologies, Dr. Akaezuwa worked as Director of Digital Libraries at Elsevier where he was involved in developing the world’s largest science, technology and medical online information retrieval system.
Prior to joining Elsevier, he was Advanced Technology Manager for Dow Jones and Company’s information retrieval systems. He led the redesign of Dow Jones News Retrieval, the world’s largest business information system. In 1995, he became an Associate Professor of Management Information Systems at Rider University, Lawrenceville, NJ, where he taught senior level courses in Management Information Systems at the School of Business.
Dr. Akaezuwa is a founding Trustee of the Global Literacy Project – www.glpinc.org, — a USA non-profit organization that fosters community-based literacy initiatives throughout the world. The Global Literacy Project has shipped about 1.9 million books to communities in Asia (India), Africa (Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa), the Caribbean (St. Vincent and the Grenadines).
