Ma’isha L. Aziz has been a trailblazer her whole life, having graduated from high school at the age of 16, college at 20, law school at 23, and the owner of her own law firm by the age of 27. Fourteen years later, in 2014, she was elected as a Judge to the Municipal Court of Lawnside, which she served until 2021. Ms. Aziz is licensed to practice law in Maryland and New Jersey.
After graduating from Haddon Heights High School, Aziz attended Rutgers University-Camden, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. She cofounded and became the first president of the Muslim Student’s Association at Rutgers. She is also a proud and active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Theta Chi Chapter. As a young student, Ms. Aziz had a passion for social action and political activism and felt a calling to ascend to something bigger than herself. Subsequently, she applied and was accepted to Temple Law School, where she continuously excelled in her courses and received multiple merit scholarships. While there, she was Secretary of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and served as the Philadelphia Sub-Regional BLSA Director for the Eastern Region.
Giving back to her community is very paramount, especially to the youth. Ms. Aziz registers and educates young and (older) people for and about local and national elections. Once more, her passion for social action and political awareness garnered her numerous awards, including a 2006 Camden County Freedom Medal given by the Camden County Freeholders, and a 2012 Visionary Leader Award from the Camden County East NAACP.
She is currently a member of the New Jersey Garden City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Some of her other current positions include social action chair for the New Jersey Garden City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the advisor for the NAACP Camden County East Youth Council, the youth works committee chair of the NAACP Camden County East branch, advisor for the youth ministry at Masjid Freehaven, previously 1st Vice President and Secretary , member of the New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Association, Region 2 Adult Representative for the NAACP National Youth Works Committee, NJSC NAACP Youth Works Chair, Advisor, NJSC NAACP Youth & College, and a member, Supreme Court Committee on Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement.
Presently, Ms. Aziz is the owner of Aziz Law Group, LLC located in Voorhees, NJ, which focuses on Corporation, Estate and Real Estate matters. She is also an adjunct professor at Rutgers University, where she has taught business law, and public speaking. She is the proud daughter of Dr. Anwar Aziz, and Nurse Michele Aziz, Lawnside residents, and the mother of Mansa Aziz, a 2022 graduate at the prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta.
