2021 Student/Alumni Mixer Offers Chance to Connect, Listen and Celebrate

Rutgers Black and Latinx student leaders from all three campuses will once again be able to connect with stellar Rutgers alumni in our annual Student Leader/Alumni Mixer. Held as a Pre-Event to the Rutgers African-American Alumni Alliance 18th Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony, the mixer will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The alumni and student leaders will listen to each other’s perspectives and give feedback about what should be celebrated and where support is needed.

This year’s facilitators include three outstanding alumni from disparate fields and interests:

Dr. Jeffrey Robinson, Associate Professor, Rutgers Business School 

Jeffrey A. Robinson, Ph.D. is an award winning business school professor, international speaker and entrepreneur.  Since 2008, he has been a leading faculty member at Rutgers Business School where he is an associate professor of management and entrepreneurship and the Academic Director of The Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development.  The Center is a unique interdisciplinary venue for innovative thinking and research on entrepreneurial activity and economic development in urban environments.  He is the co-author along with Dr. Randal Pinkett of Black Faces in White Places: 10 Game-Changing Strategies to Achieve Success and Find Greatness.

In 2014 Dr. Jeffrey Robinson won the Presidential Fellowship for Teaching Excellence at Rutgers University. The inscription on the award read: “In Recognition of his extraordinary dedication to developing courses that engage and educate students in the classroom, and his ability to inspire them to cultivate highly useful skills through experiential learning and field work.”

Julius W. Robinson, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer for the US and Canada, Marriott International

Julius W. Robinson’s Marriott career spans over 25 years, from starting as a part-timer, working while still an undergraduate student at Rutgers-New Brunswick. His most recent roles have included being SVP and Global Brand Leader for Premium Brands and most notably, Julius led the Marriott and Sheraton brand transformations focused on extensive product renovation and brand repositioning.

Chelsie Riche, Senior Program Coordinator/Developer, Rutgers University—New Brunswick

Chelsie Riche made Rutgers proud even in her undergraduate years by culminating as one of 36 students nationwide in the fall of 2017 awarded the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue graduate studies at the University of Cambridge. From her days as an Africana/History Major her activism has centered on providing access to education for marginalized communities.

Currently at Rutgers-New Brunswick, Chelsie leads the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program—which aims to diversify the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
